Rogue paperboy's secret stash found inside cottage's stunning $3m transformation
By Viva Hyde

A rogue paperboy stuffed thousands of catalogues inside the walls of a West End cottage — holding up the dilapidated property before its $3 million transformation.
Mining technology entrepreneurs Kim and David Eagles made the bizarre discovery when they bought 16 Avebury Street and opened up the crumbling timber frame.
It was the ultimate paper-run shortcut, but two decades on, that secret stash has been buried beneath a striking architectural redesign.
Completed in June following an 18-month build by Refresh Studio and Bespoke Constructions, the pre-1900s inner-city cottage is now a three-level luxury residence wrapped in a screen of vertical white battens.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom layout includes a private study with bi-fold windows overlooking the main living area, spilling down to a covered alfresco kitchen and pool terrace.
Place New Farm lead agent Heath Williams said the home's scale and consideration made it a standout for the area.
The owners did not renovate this property for resale; it was designed as their long-term family home, so the decisions were driven by quality, functionality and how they genuinely wanted to live, Mr Williams said.
The property is marketed via a best offers campaign closing August 11.
